How Habits Work
Habits are the core of Locky. Here's everything you need to know about creating and managing them.
Creating a habit
Tap the + button on the home screen to add a new habit. You can pick from templates (Brush Teeth, Exercise, Read, etc.) or create a completely custom one. Each habit has:
- Name — what the habit is called
- Emoji — a visual identifier shown on the home screen
- Proof description — what your photo should show (used by AI verification)
- Cadence — how often the habit is due
Cadence options
Locky supports three scheduling modes:
- Daily — due every single day
- Specific days — due on selected days of the week (e.g. Mon, Wed, Fri)
- Every X days — due on a recurring interval (e.g. every 3 days)
Only habits that are due today will appear on your home screen and count toward unlocking your apps.
Completing a habit
Tap a habit on the home screen to mark it as done. If the habit has a proof description, you'll be taken to the camera to snap a photo. Locky's AI checks the photo matches the description — for example, a photo of your made bed for a "Make Bed" habit.
Once all due habits are complete, your apps unlock and the home screen turns green.
Editing and deleting habits
Go to Settings → Habits to edit a habit's name, emoji, proof description, or cadence. You can also delete habits you no longer need. Changes take effect immediately.
The Locky day
Locky's day runs from 3:00 AM to 2:59 AM. This means if you complete a habit at 1:00 AM, it counts for the current day rather than the next. The 3 AM boundary is designed so night owls aren't penalized.
